Professor Michael Kelly to launch ‘Links into Languages' at the Language World conference

The Head of Humanities, Professor Michael Kelly, launches a nationwide, government-funded programme called ‘Links into Languages’ at the Language World conference in Leicester today.

Michael heads up the scheme that is to bring continuing professional development to language teachers and others working in the field of languages in schools and colleges.

Links into Languages is a consortium led by the Subject Centre for Languages, Linguistics and Area Studies (LLAS) based here at the University, along with Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT) and Association for Language Learning (ALL). This consortium has been commissioned by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) to build a nationally coordinated network of regional support centres where language professionals can take Links training courses, network and access the latest resources. The Links website will host an online learning community with examples of best practice and innovative teaching ideas.

Professor Michael Kelly said, “天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 aim is to increase access to support and information services, including policy updates, advice, networking, project funding and professional development. In order to enthuse children about languages, we have to ensure that their teachers have access to the best resources and training.”
