Professor Pat Jacobs from Wessex Regional Genetics Laboratory will present the keynote Annual Wade Lecture. Professor Jacobs was the first scientist to discover an abnormal chromosome in a human. This was a milestone in the study of human genetics as it showed the first evidence that the Y chromosome was ‘male determined’ in mammals.
Among other distinctions Professor Jacobs has an OBE, has been a Fellow of the Royal Society since 1983 and is a winner of the American Society of Human Genetics’ William Allan Memorial Award.
