Human Rights Lecture 2012 – 26th April, 6pm

All staff and students are welcome to attend the second?Human Rights Lecture which will be given by Dame Anne Owers? Her?Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Prisons 2001–2010.

‘Prisons and the Protection of Human Rights’

This lecture will deal with why human rights in closed environments?such as prisons are important, and are protected in both?international and national standards.? It will look at the practical?mechanisms that exist, inside and outside the prison system, to?monitor and protect them, and the broad findings of inspections and?reviews.

There will be an end of lecture collection for Amnesty?International.

Tea and coffee will be provided in the South Corridor before the?lecture at 5:30pm, the lecture begins at 6pm and it will be followed?by a drink reception.
