Reminder: Inaugural Lecture by Professor Dankmar Boehning – How many cases do we miss when we screen human populations for disease? – 25th September

In this lecture, Professor Boehning will present?research which is targeted at investigating human populations that?are frequently screened for specific diseases with the aim to detect?the disease early when it is easier to treat and cure. It is only for?those that are at risk (at risk being defined as having a positive?screening test result) that is meaningful to verify the disease?status. As a result, a large portion of the screened population?remains unverified in their disease status leaving a certain amount?of cases undetected. Dankmar will investigate capture-recapture?techniques to estimate the amount of disease present in the?unverified population and will concentrate on two cases studies that?explore the population with both positive and negative disease?statuses.

See attached for more information.

This lecture will start at 6pm (refreshments from?5.30pm) on Tuesday 25 September 2012 in building 58, lecture theatre?1067, Highfield Campus.

A drinks reception will be held afterwards.
