Students from across the University were invited to write a response to Jeremy Paxman’s Empire, in an essay, review or short story.
The winner of the competition was Jack Clarke who wrote his well-informed and wide-ranging essay, drawing out the strengths and weakness of?Jeremy Paxman’s?approach to history. You can read his essay:?‘Jeremy Paxman: Empire, What ruling the world did to the British’ here. As winner of the competition, Jack?receives the ?350 cash prize.
The runner-up of the competition was Joseph Owen?for his tough, funny, and critically astute imagining of the inception of Jeremy Paxman’s work. You can read his piece here. As runner-up of the competition, Joseph receives??100 in John Smith’s Book Tokens.
