On Sunday 26 July at Avondale House researchers from the University took to the stage for Bright Club, a night of stand-up comedy, to a sold-out crowd.
With over 75 tickets being sold for the first ever Bright Club event, five researchers presented their research through the medium of stand-up comedy. It was?hosted by Joe Hart, now professional comedian and previous student at the University, and headlined by Iszi Lawrence.
Jess Spurrell, one of the event organisers and a PhD student said:
“We’re a very, very happy team. [The first event] can only be described as a resounding success!”
A member of the audience commented:
“My feeling is that there is a change happening in this city, from a place where everyone is doing their own things in their own places, to a real sense of a community being built. I love the way that you are contributing to this change through comedy.”
Bright Club will now hold?quarterly events that will see PhD and Postdoctoral researchers from the University and 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 Solent University presenting their research at a local venue through stand-up comedy.
