Knee-deep in your dissertation?

The Student Communications Team has been running the #YouGotDiss campaign, alongside the Students’ Union’s #YouAreMoreThanDiss,?providing helpful hints and tips to?help you achieve your potential and maintain your wellbeing during the dissertation writing process!

Below is the first in a series of?four snapshot posts, which will each focus on a single idea or skill that will help any student to hone their academic writing, and that will be particularly valuable for those writing dissertations.

Sometimes, it’s best to go back to basics. Good academic writing should be complex, but the complexity of your work should stem from the ideas?you present?and the depth of your discussion, not from the language used or the style of communication.

Avoid flowery,?overly-complicated?language. Instead, be clear, direct and coherent. You can find a helpful introduction to academic writing here.
