Celebrating achievement at the Employability Excellence Awards 2018

The University’s Employability Excellence Awards took place this year on Thursday 13 September at the Nuffield Theatre.

The ceremony recognises achievements by students and employability partners participating in the Careers and Employability Service work experience programmes.

By undertaking these programmes, students are gaining skills to support successful job applications whilst providing talent to organisations of all sizes and sectors.

Employability and Excellence Awards

The celebration was a success, with nine student awards and four employability partner awards won on the night from competitive shortlists.

Professor Sir Christopher Snowden chose the winner of the President and Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Achievement – this year’s winner was Yavor Edipov, a BSc Computer Science student, recognised for contributions to Wessex Social Ventures (WSV) through the Excel 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 Internship Programme.

Yavor said:

“The internship provided me with a life-changing opportunity as it has helped me realise that pursuing a career as an Android developer brings joy into my life.”

Adam Boxer from Wessex Social Ventures commented:

“Yavor’s impact on WSV has been absolutely huge! The development of the WSV Collect app has meant we can more quickly and effectively gather information from our partners and the app is already being used in 4 countries across Africa.”

The WSV Collect App was designed to allow for assessments to be completed even in rural areas with no internet connectivity.
