The studies, Lactamica 4 and Lactamica 5, both relate to bacteria commonly found in the nose and throat of many people.

They are part of a portfolio of studies lead by Professor Robert Read, Head of Clinical and Experimental Sciences within Medicine at the University of 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载, and also Director of the NIHR 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 Biomedical Research Centre.

Professor Read’s group pioneered this type of research technique and now advises other researchers on how to conduct similar human challenge studies.

It’s hoped that the results of the research could lead to a new vaccine or preventative therapy.

Candidates need to be aged between 18 – 45 years, in good health; the researchers are unable to take participants who are allergic to soya or those taking antibiotics.

The duration of the studies are 3-6 months and participants will be required to attend the Clinical Research Facility at 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 General Hospital on several occasions for periods lasting from 30 minutes to up to 2 hours.

Participants will be reimbursed for their time and travel expenses.
