This month is World Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month, and we’re using the opportunity to encourage our whole community to foster an environment where autistic people are supported, understood, and empowered.
Your actions can help create a more inclusive and accepting world, and there are lots of simple ways you can make a huge difference in an autistic person’s life.
This may include:
- Allowing additional time to process information.
- Providing some space to regulate.
- Adjusting your expectations.

Autism Matters Workshops
In addition to the services and resources listed above, you can join the Student Disability and Inclusion team’s ‘Autism Matters’ workshops.
This month’s workshop will be hosted online on Tuesday 15 April, 17:00-18:00, and will be themed ‘Autism Matters: Managing stress and anxiety during exam periods’.
It will explore practical methods for managing stress and anxiety during the exam period, why anxiety often develops for autistic people, and what can be done to reduce overall anxiety.
