Wellbeing and Fitness to Study Regulations Update

Following extensive review and consultation, from 1 August 2025, the Wellbeing and Fitness to Study Regulations will replace the current Student Support Review Regulations.

These updated Regulations are designed to support students experiencing health or wellbeing difficulties that are negatively affecting their academic progress, daily life at the University, or placement experiences. The aim is to provide proactive support and engagement to help students continue with their studies, while also assessing whether they are currently well enough to do so.

The Student Support Directorate is responsible for overseeing these Regulations and the associated procedures.

You will see that the Regulations provide further clarity on the procedures that accompany them, accessible information for students and staff, up-to-date terminology, and guidance on how students may be accompanied through the process.

A link to full details of the Regulations can be found online at Regulations Governing Wellbeing and Fitness to Study.

To make a referral for a student you may complete the attached Wellbeing and Fitness to Study Request form.
