The Public Engagement with Research Unit (PERu) are on the road this summer, taking the ‘Bringing Research to Life’ Roadshow to local festivals across Hampshire.
This travelling platform for public and community engagement helps staff and students connect research with new audiences across the region, whilst also enabling involvement with new voices and perspectives in research. So far, the team have visited 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 Mela Festival and the New Forest and Hampshire County Show, which took place in July.
The Public and Community Engagement Hubs team led the curation of activities at the Mela Festival, with community groups working alongside the team in attendance as exhibitors, including Yellow Door and V.L.A.D. Outreach CIC, providing an opportunity for engagement?activities with a strong community focus and impact.
The New Forest and Hampshire County Show featured exhibits from ‘Archaeology Finds’ to ‘Better beans for a better future’, ‘Bonkers Biomaterials for Bones and Bacteria’, Biophotonics, the MISSION project and Enactus 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载’s ‘Seeds for Thought’. Exhibitors at the stand engaged with 1,775 visitors over the 3-day event. Keeping the fun going was an exciting Activity Trail, featuring the University as the first stop of 10 stands, attracting hundreds of families throughout the day. One major highlight of the UoS Roadshow at the New Forest and Hampshire County Show was the amazing accolade of winning first prize in the J W Howlett Challenge Cup, for presenting the best local stand within a 30 miles radius.
The team couldn’t have done it without the hard work and exemplary contribution from all UoS students and staff members, a real testament to bringing research to life. The roadshow tour continues with the next stop being at 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 Pride on 23 and 24 August and there is still time to get involved by signing up to join the official march on the Saturday.
