Update on Confirmation and Clearing 2025

As we come to the end of our main Confirmation and Clearing week, we’re sharing a short summary of our progress, highlights, and next steps.??

We have had a very successful Clearing this year with many prospective students interested in joining us. We made 2,588 offers yesterday, up from 1,400 last year. We received 6,160 calls and webforms – our webforms were up 117% on last year and website traffic up 24%. 312 students had confirmed themselves through UCAS by the end of day one too, this is compared to 256 at the end of day two last year – so a very good?outcome.?

Prof Phillip Wright our Senior Vice-President (Academic) said “Clearing is a great opportunity for students who didn’t meet the conditions of their original offer, have changed their mind about their course or university, or are applying for the first time.??

We have seen very promising numbers this year and a lot of hard work leading into this week. A huge thank you and well done to all the teams involved. We will continue to monitor our position and progress over the coming weeks, with a keen eye on our postgraduate numbers too.?

As I said in my briefing on Tuesday, we have an amazing university and a great story to tell, with incredible teaching, research, knowledge exchange and enterprise. This time of the year reminds us of the real opportunity we have to demonstrate what a brilliant university we are.”??

In a very competitive recruitment market this puts us in a good position as we continue to work towards our undergraduate target and we plan to stay open in Clearing into next week. Teams are in place over the weekend to process the applications coming in. There was a virtual open day today (Friday 15 August) and there will be a campus open day tomorrow. Thank you to those of you working over the weekend.?
