Training and development opportunities for PGR supervisors updated for 25/26

Whether you are new to supervising doctoral students or have been supervising for a while, there are training and development opportunities available for all including eLearning modules, in-person workshops and recorded content.

Introduction to doctoral supervision eLearning course

Designed for those who are new to PGR supervision or new to 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载, but open to all and a great way to keep up to date with changes to the regulations and code of practice. Duration: Approximately 1 hour.? Access the course on the Becoming a Doctoral Supervisor SharePoint.

Supervising a collaborative doctorate eLearning course

Do you work with external advisers (formerly external supervisors) as part of a CDT/DTP, industry, NHS, NOC, or other collaboration? This course is aimed at external colleagues, or anyone supervising a collaborative doctorate. Duration: 30 minutes. Access the course on the Supervising a collaborative doctorate site.

Supervisor Induction – Expectations of Research Supervision Workshop (in-person)

This is aimed at staff who are new to supervising doctoral researchers. It builds on and develops the themes of the ‘Introduction to doctoral supervision eLearning course’ in an in-person format. The workshop will support discussion of key aspects and approaches to supervision, linking to the UKRI statement of expectations for doctoral training 2024 and the Good Supervisory Practice Framework (GSPF) (UKCGE 2023). ?Book on StaffBook

Faculty PGR Supervisor forums

Look out for calendar invites from your faculty Doctoral College office to faculty supervisor forums. These are a great opportunity for all supervisors to stay up to date, discuss topics related to PGR supervision and ask questions of the Faculty Director of Graduate School and others, in a faculty-focused community of practice.

Topic-focused sessions and content

There are sessions available throughout the year or recorded/online content to support you with all aspects of the supervisory role, including: PGR progression reviews, navigation of PGR Manager, examining a thesis, supportive conversations and signpost to career development options.
