About the programmes

Advance HE runs two award programmes that recognise, promote and share teaching excellence in UK higher education. The National Teaching Fellowship Scheme (NTF) and the Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence (CATE) highlight the exceptional contributions of individuals and teams who teach or support learning in UK higher education. These awards celebrate their achievements and offer a platform for sharing their expertise.

These prestigious awards are regarded as the highest level of professional recognition of excellence and innovation in all aspects of education.

National Teaching Fellowship Scheme (NTFS)

The NTFS has made a significant impact on both student outcomes and the teaching profession in higher education. Launched in 2000, it has made a considerable contribution to the sector's efforts to continuously improve learning and teaching for the benefit of students and society.

Neil Ford, National Teaching Fellow 2024?

Neil is a Principal Teaching Fellow within CHEP, has worked at the University of 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 since 2016, and is dedicated to developing networks and communities for both students and staff to make the most of peer support and collaborative learning.?

Professor Sarah Stevenage, National Teaching Fellow 2023?

Professor Stevenage, who has taught at 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 for 30 years, is an expert in cognitive psychology. She has also provided leadership in education as Associate Dean Education for her current and previous faculties since 2012.?

Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence (CATE)

The Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence (CATE) recognises and rewards collaborative work that has had a demonstrable impact on teaching and learning. Introduced in 2016, the scheme highlights the key role of teamwork in higher education.

The MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) programme team of Kate Borthwick, Tamsyn Smith and Sarah Fielding 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 won the CATE award in 2021.?

It is never too early to start planning

Being in a position to apply for an NTF or CATE award is not something that happens overnight. Usually it takes several years of planning, excellent achievement and continuous professional development.? So, it is never too soon to come to a session or make contact with the team to discuss how you can get started.
