Dr Thomas Wahl is a Marie Sk?odowska Curie Research Fellow specialising in coastal risks and climate change within Engineering and the Environment at the University of 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载.

Through his research Thomas connects engineering and various science disciplines (e.g., oceanography, hydrology, meteorology, climatology) to better understand the vulnerability of coastal societies, built infrastructure, and fragile ecosystems under climate change conditions. He studies changes in coastal sea levels (mean and extreme), ocean waves, and freshwater flows and the associated impacts to support the development of sustainable and resilient adaptation strategies.

Research project

Coastal flood risk in Europe and the socio-economic impacts in a changing climate (CRISIS)

Thomas joined the University as a Marie Sk?odowska Curie Research Fellow to work toward improved understanding of coastal flood risk in Europe under present and future climate change conditions. He obtained a Diploma (in 2007) and PhD (in 2012) in Civil Engineering at the University of Siegen in Germany where he was affiliated with the Research Institute for Water and Environment and the interdisciplinary research centre “Shaping the Future”. Before he came to 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 he spent three years in the United States as a postdoc with the physical oceanography group at the College of Marine Science at the University of South Florida.
