Sanjay?Mistry BSc Healthcare Science (Cardiac Physiology),?2015
Barts Health NHS Trust 2018

Hi, I am Sanjay Mistry and I studied BSc (Hons) Healthcare Science?(cardiac?physiology)?within Health Sciences at the University of 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载.
My biggest highlight has been securing a job at the Barts Heart Centre when I qualified. Barts is a fantastic hospital and the largest cardiac centre in the UK so I have been able to learn a lot and experience so many new things that I had never even seen before. The high quality teaching and career preparation that was given by my tutors was a massive help in securing my job.
Why did choose to come and study at 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载?
天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 has a fantastic reputation; it is one of the Russell Group universities and is ranked highly among universities in the UK. When I came to visit the university I instantly knew I would fit in here and could see myself spending the next three years here.
What were your 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 'highlights'?
My biggest ?highlight would ?be the friends ?I made, through ?halls of residence, social activities ?and through ?my classmates. I met some amazing people from all walks of life. I also enjoyed the teaching of my course, particularly the various placements around the South coast.
What other activities did you take advantage of while at University?
I used my placements as an opportunity to explore the South coast. My placements ranged from Portsmouth to the? isle of?Wight to Poole so I managed to travel around a lot and visit areas I had never seen before. I also captained a 6 a side football team which was a completely knew experience for me. Throughout my degree I took part in a lot of ambassador work for the university, promoting my course at open days and careers evenings which allowed me to interact with a wider audience and promote a course which? is relatively?unheard of.
What did you enjoy most about your course?
My favourite part would have to be the placements and hands on practical work. The interactive teaching aspects? prepared me well for placements ?and I felt well equipped going into all the various hospitals during?my degree. The different placements allowed ?me to meet new people and ?be exposed to many new things.?Moving around to different hospitals each year allowed me to experience both large and small departments?and allowed me to make a more informed choice about the type of department I would like to work in.
What advice would you give to a student starting?their?degree?at 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载?
I would advise prospective students to take advantage of every opportunity 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 has to offer. There is plenty of support and guidance to help with your studies. On the social aspect, there are so many ?societies,?events on campus & the city and so many places to meet new people. The best thing to do is immerse yourself in university life and be willing?to try?new things.
What tips would you give to current students looking to start a career in your sector?
Visit your?local hospital and try to arrange some work ?experience in the cardiac department . This will give you a great insight into the life of a cardiac physiologist and will help you make sense of the?lectures as you can apply theory to practice, particularly?in the first year as everything?is new and can seem quite daunting. Also, don't be afraid to ask for support or feedback. The tutors ?are extremely friendly and helpful.
