Having taught and published in the United States for a number of years, Joan moved to the UK, and have been at the University of 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 since 2016. Her teaching and research interests include Public Law, Family Law, and Legal History. In addition, Joan supervises dissertations, serves as a personal academic tutor to a group of students, and she is currently the Programe Lead for the JD (Juris Doctor) and Accelerated Students.
Joan recently published a book, MI5, the Cold War and the Rule of Law, with KD Ewing and Andrew Moretta. The authors are now working on a second book that will be an overview of civil liberties restrictions during the Cold War. In addition, Joan is currently working on a project dealing with concepts of parenting and parenthood in the UK and the US.
Joan's teaching interests include Legal History, Public Law, and both aspects of Family Law: parents, children and the state and the regulation of adult relationships.
Joan attended the University of Chicago (BA and MA), Wayne State Univeristy (JD), and Cambridge University (PhD). I practiced law for four years before entering academia, where she taught at four different Law Schools in the United States and served as Dean at two of them. The courses Joan taught included Constitutional Law, Family Law, and Legal History, as well as jurisprudence and federal courts. She published around thirty articles and book chapters during that period dealing with constitutional law, legal history, reproductive technology and bioethics.
After moving to the UK in 2010, Joan returned to teaching at 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 Law School at the University of 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 in 2016.
