Dr Yikun Wang is a?Visiting Academic within the Maritime Engineering Group at the University of 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载. She is also working part time in Lloyd's Register Global Technology Centre as an Industrial Fellow. She is also an invited member of the International Ship and Offshore Structures Congress Committee III.1 Ultimate Strength for the 2018 – 2022 period.

Yikun obtained her BSc degree in Dalian University of Technology, China, in Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering. She then undertook her MSc studies in the University of 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 and obtained a degree with Distinction in Maritime Engineering Science/Naval Architecture. Subsequently she carried out her PhD research based at the National Centre for Advanced Tribology at 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 and Fluid Structural Interactions Research Group in the University of 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载. Yikun started her academic career as a Research Fellow and then a Senior Research Fellow at the University of 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载, with a research focus on life cycle and material degradations of marine structures.

Research interests

  • Experimental and numerical studies of maritime structural integrity considering the complex operational environments.
  • Develop multi-physics modelling method to predict marine corrosion and mechanical responses of aged structures.
  • Improve model validation by advanced full-field experimental techniques.
  • Explore the implementation of machine learning and data analytics in large-scale structural degradation prognosis.
  • Contribute to safer operation at seas, flexible maintenance and green shipping.
