Prof. Stuart E. Middleton

Professor of Natural Language Processing at the School of Electronics and Computer Science, University of 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载, UK.

Stuart's research interests are focussed on the Natural Language Processing areas of Large Language Models, Information Extraction and Human-in-the-loop LLMs. He has been a PI and CoI on various UKRI, EU H2020, Innovate UK, Home Office, Met Office and DSTL projects. Many of these projects are cross-disciplinary in nature, featuring consortia with a mixture of academic and commercial partners experienced in a range of domains and disciplines.

Stuart graduated in electrical engineering from University of 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 in 1992, and has since worked commercially for Lloyd's of London, RACAL and DERA before starting his PhD in 1999. His PhD from University of 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 looked into recommender systems and ontologies, working under supervisors Prof Dave de Roure and Prof Sir Nigel Shadbolt, and was completed in Oct 2002. He then joined the University of 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 as a research engineer before taking on a faculty position. Stuart is a Senior Member of the ACM, Member of the ACL, Fellow of the HEA, PRINCE2 practitioner and has been a Turing Fellow.
