The University will only operate Staff Apprenticeship schemes where there is either;

• a known succession challenge, or
• a need to create a future talent pool of qualified/skilled individuals

If managers are experiencing challenges in succession planning for medium to long term workforce stability, employing an apprentice on an approved apprenticeship scheme may be an appropriate solution.

Apprenticeships will not be supported for any other reason and are not appropriate for addressing short-term skills gaps in the workforce.

Please speak to your HR Business Partner before initiating an apprenticeship scheme.
