He is a member of the Council for Mathematical Sciences, advising the UK government and representing the interests of mathematics to the government. Joerg is associate editor of Computational and Applied Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and Computation. Asia-Pacific Journal of Operations Research, and Computational Optimization and Applications. He is co-funder of the startup Nucleolus, bringing novel approaches from machine learning and artificial intelligence to the world of healthcare and gaming. Joerg regularly collaborates with industry and public bodies, such as Airbus, Boeing, DSTL, the European Space Agency, Ford, Heathrow Airport, Northrop Grumman, RNLI, and others.
