3 scholarships to reduce tuition fees are available to UK students applying for the MA Holocaust: History, Experience, Heritage in 2025.
The Parkes Institute for the Study of Relations between Jews and non-Jews is offering:
- 1 James Parkes scholarship of ?6,500
- up to 2 Sayers Family scholarships of ?2,000
Deadline: Tuesday 9 September 2025, midday UK time.
Eligibility
To apply for this scholarship you must:
- have an offer to study Holocaust: History, Experience, Heritage, either full time or part time
- achieve a 2:1 (65% minimum) or an equivalent qualification in your undergraduate studies
- pay the home tuition fee rates
You must not be getting an external scholarship.
How to apply
This is a competitive process and not all applications will be successful.
To apply for this scholarship:
Write your 500-word personal statement explaining:
- why you want to study at the Parkes Institute
- your research interests
- your professional experience and ambition
- if relevant, details of financial circumstances
Email your personal statement to parkes@soton.ac.uk before the deadline.
You only need to send 1 application to be considered for both the James Parkes and Sayers Family scholarships.
The quality of your applicantion and the relevance of your research project to the broad remit of the Institute (Jewish/non-Jewish relations; use of Special Collections) will be the major consideration when assessing applications.
Financial need will be considered but will not be a major determining factor in our decision-making. If you want your financial circumstances to be considered, you should provide supporting documentation, such as evidence of incomings and outgoings when you apply.
How we award scholarships
There are 3 stages to the shortlisting process:
- we check that you meet the eligibility criteria
- we review your Postgraduate application and scholarship application
- a selection panel, chaired by the Director of the Parkes Institute, will decide on who gets the scholarships
The decision of the scholarship panel is final.
