Dr June Cao is an associate professor in accounting. June’s core research focus is the burgeoning areas such as carbon accounting, carbon disclosure/assurance, green innovations, ESG/CSR, and the cutting edge of sustainability reporting and green supply chain management. June uses advanced methodologies to solve multifaceted global issues from multidisciplinary perspectives. Her commitment to research excellence is evidenced by quality research outputs published in A*/A/Q1/ABS-3* journals such as the British Accounting Review, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Energy Economics, Journal of International Accounting Research, Abacus, International Journal of Auditing, Journal of Accounting Literature, Journal of Financial Stability, Business Strategy and the Environment, among others. Her research performance has been recognized by several prestigious research accolades, including Faculty Research Output of Year Award in 2024, Faculty New Researcher of the Year Awards in 2023, Faculty International Engagement Award in 2021, a number of Best Paper Awards. June has secured a number of research grants in Australia, China, Indonesia, and UK.
Grounded in transformative scholarship-informed pedagogy, her technologies-based and SDGs-embedded teaching engages students as reflective practitioners, nurturing adaptable accountants and industry-ready global citizens for a sustainable future. Her teaching excellence has been recognized by several prestigious teaching accolades, including the Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT) Nomination (twice) in 2024 and 2023, University Outstanding Contribution to Learning and Teaching Awards in 2024, Univeristy Teaching Excellence Award in 2022 and the Faculty Teaching Excellence Award in 2022, continuously recognised by the professional body CPA Australia and was awarded four Certificates of Appreciation CPA Australia for the 100% pass rate of her students in CPA exams in 2023, 2022, 2021 and 2020.
She is a member of CPA Australia, CA ANZ, and AFAANZ Technical Committee, a fellow of the Higher Education of UK, and a Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) certified sustainability professional. She is also an accredited FHEA mentor. She is on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of Accounting Literature and serve as the Lead Guest Editor of the Pacific Accounting Review and an Associate Editor of the Accounting Research Journal. She is also an ad hoc reviewer for over 38 international journals including British Accounting Review, British Journal of Management, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance, Journal of Accounting Literature, Energy Economics, International Review of Financial Analysis, Journal of Financial Stability, among others.
